Description
The VV Vinhas Velhas is a wine produced solely from the certified organic grapes of Quinta de Baixo.
The Maria Gomes and Bical grape varieties, grown in calcareous soils, lend their natural acidity to the 100-year-old vines of the Quinta de Baixo Vinhas Velhas (Old Vines). This allows for an elegant malolactic fermentation, with pH levels under 3.0.
The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in 1000L foudres which were sourced from the Mosel and are more than 60 years old. The VV beautifully represents the incredible lightness and complexity of Bairrada wines.
Tasting Note: Mineral notes derived from the calcareous soils, with hints of fresh herbs, limes, and white blossoms. A seamless balance between the austere and mineral-driven Bical grape and the expressive Maria Gomes grapes. The acidity and saline notes result in a distinct and elegant character.
