Description
Bella Modella Primitivo is a fruit-driven, elegant red wine from Puglia in southern Italy, crafted from Primitivo to exemplify the charm and intensity of modern Puglian winemaking. Stylish, fine, and thoroughly contemporary in its approach, it delivers the warmth and depth of the south at an outstanding price.
Why You’ll Love It
Bella Modella is a producer with a clear philosophy: to make stylish, fine wines that are genuinely affordable without sacrificing character or quality. Primitivo is Puglia’s most celebrated native grape, a variety of remarkable richness and intensity that thrives in the region’s hot, dry summers and produces wines of real depth and personality. This is Puglia at its most approachable and expressive, a wine that over-delivers at every price point.
Vineyard & Production
Grapes are grown in medium-textured soils over tufaceous limestone, benefiting from mild, slightly rainy winters and hot, dry summers with good natural ventilation. These conditions develop the intensity, structure, and aromatic purity that define the Primitivo grape. Grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed, with 8 to 10 days of maceration at controlled temperatures below 28 degrees to achieve optimal colour and structure. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks under nitrogen to preserve freshness, with at least 6 months of maturation before bottling.
Tasting Notes
Full-bodied, rich, and rounded in the glass. Intense dark fruit flavours and an elegant structure showcase the varietal’s natural warmth and depth, with a long, satisfying finish that is quintessentially Puglian.
Perfect Pairings
Pairs beautifully with red meats, roasts, game, and strong-flavoured cheeses. Also excellent alongside slow-cooked pasta dishes and hearty Italian cuisine.
