The striking Hennessy was released in the 1970s, encased in packaging that features founder Richard Hennessy. Born into an aristocratic family in County Cork, Ireland, Hennessey moved to Cognac to set up his own house after dabbling in the sales of wine and spirits in Belgium. The style of these late 20th-century cognacs tends to be a bit richer and fuller-bodied than their modern counterparts, owing to a higher average age of the eaux-de-vie within. Expect plenty of rich rancio character.
