Description
The ongoing Machir Bay series is a vatting of whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks for around six years, married and then finished in oloroso sherry butts before bottling. It’s become a flagship for Kilchoman and characteristic of the Islay distillery’s style.
There’s plenty of brine, plenty of smoke and a good amount of peat, and all quite bright and fresh without a dusty and heavy sherry-cask robe. This is an Islay dram allowed to speak for itself – what more could anyone want? Oliver James McKinley, The Whisky Exchange
