Description
This old bottling of Pernod is perfect for making vintage Sazerac cocktails at your next party. Maison Pernod Fils was founded in 1805 in Pontarlier, France as a producer of absinthe. After the anise-flavoured spirit was banned in France in 1815 – following suspect claims that it had hallucinatory effects – Pernod responded by creating an anise liqueur as a substitute. While early iterations of this new product were higher in alcohol, this 1970s bottling was made during a time when Pernod was promoting a more approachable 45% version.
