Robert Burnett was originally a corn merchant who partnered with distiller John Faffett, his neighbour on Horseflydown Lane in Southwark. This producer of old has heritage dating back to 1770, a time when slightly sweetened Old Tom gin gained prominence and eventual infamy, as London’s gin scene was driven underground. The style is called for in many classic cocktail recipes, making this 1940s bottling a great way of sampling your favourite classic cocktails closer to the way they were originally intended
